ABEL ROCK GROUP HOME
This home was built in 2003 for two people with autism and other complex needs. It is located on the outskirts of Belfast and currently provides a home for two people diagnosed with Mental Retardation/Autism so that they could move home to Belfast where they grew up and their family resides. This home has many unique safety features such as protective heating and recessed lighting, which provides a more comfortable living environment for people with autism.
HIGH STREET GROUP HOMES I & II
Each of the two residences offers six people a home located in downtown Belfast. The Maine Department of Health and Human Services and the US Department of Housing and Urban Development provide funding for these two homes. Some people living in these homes work on gaining skills to move into their own apartment and others intend to stay while working in the community. These homes are licensed by the Maine Department of Health and Human Services as Level III Assisted Living Facilities.
MARSH ROAD GROUP HOME (MRGH)
MRGH is an intermediate care facility for adults with mental retardation providing an opportunity for personal growth and development. Located in Belfast, the home is wheelchair accessible, coed, and designed to serve six individuals. This home provides a family like atmosphere while encouraging the development of relationships with friends and family members. The home is staffed twenty-four hours per day, seven days per week. The home also contracts with consultants to meet individual needs in occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy, mobility training, medical, dental, and psychological services.
Group Home Daily Activities and Skills: Each resident has an individual program plan developed by a team comprised of the resident, staff, family, and professional consultants. The overall goal of the program is to provide a habilitation program, which will enhance the person's environment and create a reasonable expectation of progress toward the goal of community living in the least restrictive environment possible.
